Bear River Art Explorers – Summer 2025 Art Classes

Classes are grouped by age (5–8 and 9–12) and welcome artists of all skill levels. Each session explores a different theme or art technique, from painting and drawing to mixed media and outdoor-inspired projects. No experience needed, just curiosity and a love for making art!

🖍️ Who it’s for: Kids ages 5–12 (split into age-appropriate groups)

June 13 – Upcycled Sculptures
Learn to see the potential for creativity in constructing sculptures, and turn everyday objects into unique art!

• Ages 5–8 (1:00–3:00 PM): Kids will build playful sculptures and characters using recycled treasures and natural finds, letting their imaginations lead the way.

• Ages 9–12 (4:00–6:00 PM): Artists will design and construct 3D creations while exploring ways to see potential in a variety of different materials and tools.

June 20 – Magic Lanterns
Make your own glowing creation to light up the night!

• Ages 5–8 (1:00–3:00 PM): Young artists will layer colorful shapes to build lanterns that come to life when they glow, a great way to learn all about color and light. 

• Ages 9–12 (4:00–6:00 PM): Artists will craft their own light-up masterpieces using rich color, patterns, and see-through magic.

June 27 – Nature Painting: Waves & Sunsets
Paint the colors of the lake, sky, and summer sun!

• Ages 5–8 (1:00–3:00 PM): Little painters will swirl and splash bold colors to create expressive lake scenes inspired by our beautiful Northern Michigan shores.

• Ages 9–12 (4:00–6:00 PM): Older kids will learn fun techniques to paint waves, blend sunset skies, and bring the beauty of nature to the canvas.
